The Perfect Red Lippy

"Say Hello to my Little friend"
This is Ruby Woo, She is a  Luscious and vibrant Matte Red Lipstick from M.A.C cosmetics

Every woman should have the perfect red lipstick, it is one of the finer pleasures we get to enjoy as women and this little gem is the one for me, but it isnt always easy to find the perfect red lippy, it is comparable only to finding the perfect man when its wrong its oh so wrong, but when its right, well... You just know when you've found "The One". I have to admit I've been known on occasion to stray from Ruby though, when I want to leave the Matte world behind for more glossy deliciousness.

My Top 5 list is:

  1. M.A.C - Ruby Woo  (Matte-bluish red)
  2. Clarins - Passion 350 ( Satin-dark bluish red)
  3. L'oreal Colour Riche Star Secrets - Penelope Red 710 (Satin-orange red)
  4. M.A.C - Mac Red ( Satin- Blue based red)
  5. Revlon Chrome de La chrome - Berry flash 385 (Metallic-berry red)

So a few Tips for finding the perfect red lippy ...
  • Work out if you have a cool or warm complexion  Click here to find out. This is very important as knowing the undertones of your complexion cuts out a lot of work looking for shades that are wrong for you.
  • If you have a warm complexion you will be looking for a warm based red, orange or brown undertones.
  • If you have a cool complexion you will be looking for a blue or pink based red.
  • Lipstick finishes, there are loads of different finishes when getting started on red lipstick its best to stick with the basics here a few
-Matte- looks very velvety, perfect for
vintage looks, looks best on medium to full
             lips
             - Satin- a gorgeous silky lipstick suitable for
any style, looks great on all lips,
-Gloss, gives a juicy look to lips great on all
lips but helps small lips look fuller
-Sheer tint-a translucent colour wash, great
             for beginners

  • Decide on your price range, red lippies can range from as little as $10  to upwards of $50-$60 you need to decide what your comfortable paying and can afford.
  • This is the best part GO SHOPPING!!! Take a girlfriend with you and try before you buy! Shes more likely to give you an honest opinion than the lady on the counter :)
Last little Tip: If you are a little shy or perhaps demure deliciousness start small, go for a sheer tint or gloss and work your way up to the Ruby Woos. The more comfortable you feel wearing your Red Lippy, the more confident you will appear.

Now you know your complexion tone, the great news is that you can apply this to all colours of lipstick cos if you can get Red right the rest is simple :)

Adoringly Yours
